103 pages dedicated to the development of solar energy worldwide and its rapid growth in Arica and Parinacota are the core of the book "The Strength of the Sun," edited by Ayllu Solar, a SERC Chile initiative, which was officially launched on November 22 at the seminar of the same name in the Aula Magna of the University of Tarapacá (UTA) in Arica.

The director of Ayllu Solar and SERC Chile, Rodrigo Palma, highlighted that the book demonstrates the relevance of the Sun in the region. "We have distinguished guests who delighted us and allow us to believe that transforming Arica and Parinacota into a solar region is feasible, possible, and very close at hand, spreading this to the rest of the country," he said.

Lawrence Kazmerski, researcher emeritus at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and research professor at the University of Colorado – Boulder, participated as a speaker in the launch seminar. His presentation, "Photovoltaic Technologies: Where We Are, How We Got Here, and Where We Are Going," explained the current global scenario and Chile's role within that framework.

"More than just a presentation, we wanted to be here to promote this new book as a first message; the second message is to highlight that Chile has tremendous potential on a global level, that it is performing very well, and that it is a leader in photovoltaic energy; Chile is showing the rest of the world how to proceed with this new technology," Kazmerski commented.

At the end of the seminar, copies of "The Strength of the Sun" were presented to representatives of the Directorate of Libraries, Archives, and Museums (Dibam) of Arica and Parinacota and the University of Tarapacá, to represent the transfer of scientific knowledge to the regional community through these institutions.
