On Tuesday, July 15, in the SOFOFA auditorium, the seminar “Energy Agenda: A Major Challenge for Chile” was held, organized by the Chilean Renewable Energy Association (ACERA). The event was attended by 200 participants and featured a group of high-profile panelists and speakers, including Rodrigo Palma, director of SERC Chile.

With the aim of creating a forum to discuss and analyze the various concerns arising from the energy agenda outlined by our country’s government—whose lines of action and goals are based on seven pillars encompassing technical, economic, social, and environmental aspects—ACERA held an energy seminar on Tuesday, July 15.

Questions about how the agenda would unfold, the associated timelines, and the impact of the commitments made on the country’s future sparked interesting discussions among the speakers, panelists, and moderators.

The seminar was divided into two sessions. The first, titled “Regulatory Panel,” aimed to contribute to the analysis of the legal, regulatory, and policy framework for implementing the agenda, as well as its effects. This session featured presentations by Andrés Romero, executive secretary of the National Energy Commission (CNE), and Senator Jaime Orpis (CNE). The discussion panel consisted of Senator Orpis himself, along with Jorge Insunza, Vivianne Blanlot, and Clemente Pérez, while Hernán Moya, head of the Legal Division at the Ministry of Energy, served as moderator.

After a break, the seminar continued with the “Society, Academia, and Industry” forum, which was designed to broaden the discussion among representatives from various key sectors of the industry, with the goal of sharing perspectives and analyses on the potential effects of the energy agenda on the country’s development.

It was precisely at this event that Rodrigo Palma, director of SERC, served on the panel, alongside other experts in the field such as Sara Larraín, director of Chile Verde; René Muga, executive vice president of Generadores de Chile AG; Rodrigo Castillo, executive director of Empresas Eléctricas AG; and Carlos Finat, executive director of ACERA.

The event concluded with remarks by Raúl Sohr, a prominent journalist, sociologist, and political analyst from our country.
