More than 30 primary and secondary school teachers participated in a training session organized by SERC Chile (Solar Energy Research Center) and the Sustainable Energy Agency (AgenciaSE), which aimed to integrate energy education into educational processes with a focus on human rights and equity.

The activity, titled ‐Pedagogical tools for energy sustainability and solar energy to integrate into the classroom‑, allowed teachers to strengthen their pedagogical competencies regarding the energy transition, as well as to learn about and apply educational resources linked to solar thermal and photovoltaic energy.

During the session, held on October 22 at the University of Chile Energy Center, teachers from the municipalities of Renca and Quinta Normal participated in theoretical and practical sessions that addressed concepts of solar thermal and photovoltaic energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, and climate change. Through experimental activities and the use of solar kits, they were able to explore methodologies that facilitate the interdisciplinary teaching of energy in natural sciences, technology, and citizenship education.

Lorena Cornejo, Science and Society Coordinator at SERC Chile, stated that the objective was to strengthen pedagogical competencies and provide appropriate teaching materials for each educational level. ‐We brought together teachers from the municipalities of Renca and Quinta Normal, who participated in theoretical and practical sessions oriented toward energy education and the use of solar kits and experimental materials in the classroom,‑ she specified.

Additionally, the event featured the participation of Marcela Guerrero, coordinator of AgenciaSE, who presented the Educa Sostenible program, an initiative of the Ministry of Energy that seeks to make content, digital resources, and educational materials available for all educational levels, from nursery school to technical-vocational secondary education.

Finally, Cornejo reported that the programmatic content, educational materials, and teaching tools for levels from nursery school to vocational secondary education are available free of charge on the website www.educasostenible.cl.
