Sebastián Rivera, a researcher from the Power Electronics and Energy Conversion research line at SERC Chile, has been recognized with IEEE Senior Member status, which he describes as “a tremendous honor” that “reaffirms the perseverance, meticulousness, and dedication in the work performed.”

Sebastián Rivera holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ryerson University, Canada, and is an academic at Universidad de Los Andes. This recognition, he says, “is motivation to keep moving forward and conducting high-impact science in Chile.”

Achieving this status within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) requires at least 10 years of professional experience, the attainment of academic degrees, a demonstration of outstanding performance, and the endorsement of three IEEE members with distinguished track records.

Although it is an individual achievement, it is also a milestone for the centers in which the recognized researchers participate—in this case, SERC Chile and AC3E.

SERC Chile has committed to including young researchers and providing them with the opportunity to work alongside the country's most prominent figures. Furthermore, it “provides the tools to enhance our capabilities and advance our academic careers, strengthening the scientific community,” comments Sebastián Rivera.
