Students specializing in Plumbing from the Escuela Municipal de Capacitación participated in a session dedicated to learning about the operation, installation, and applications of solar thermal systems for housing.

This Wednesday, July 1st, SERC Chile participated in a training activity held at the Corporación Municipal Innova Recoleta, aimed at bringing knowledge about solar thermal energy to students specializing in Plumbing at the Escuela Municipal de Capacitación.

The session was led by Ian Wolde, a postdoctoral researcher at SERC Chile, who presented the main concepts associated with the operation of solar thermal systems and their application in housing, particularly for domestic hot water production.

During the activity, students were able to learn about the main components of these systems, basic installation criteria, best practices, and aspects related to their operation and efficiency. The session also allowed for these insights to be linked to plumbing-specific skills and the opportunities created by the integration of solar technologies in homes and buildings.

Solar energy and vocational training

The expansion of renewable energies requires not only the development of new technologies but also trained individuals to install, operate, and maintain them. In this context, technical training plays a relevant role in bringing energy solutions to homes and communities.

For SERC Chile, these types of activities allow for the connection of scientific and technological knowledge developed at the Center with the needs and capacities present in the territories, generating spaces for exchange with those who can directly participate in the implementation of solar solutions.

The activity is part of SERC Chile's efforts to strengthen the link between research, training, and society, contributing to ensuring that solar energy knowledge reaches diverse audiences and is incorporated into specific application contexts.
