The Chilean Solar Energy Research Center was established with several objectives. The primary one is to become a global leader in scientific research on solar energy, with an emphasis on developing the enormous solar potential of the Atacama Desert.

Our vision is that SERC Chile’s scientific contribution, the support of public and private organizations for its work, and collaboration with world-leading solar energy research centers will contribute to the significant integration of solar energy into Chile’s energy matrix and promote it internationally.

SERC Chile also aims to create new scientific knowledge; train advanced human capital in solar energy; promote technology transfer programs through projects co-funded by the public and private sectors; and educate, inform, and interact with citizens and policymakers.
